breana i agree with your first point (and the double line has also inspired many people to just ignore the rules altogether and view the carpool lane as just another passing lane.) but i must say i LOVE carpool when I can get in it, throw on cruise control and zip by the slowpokes stuck in traffic. the only bad thing to me is when you get behind the family that decides that nobody in the carpool lane needs to go over say 70 while traffic all around you is going 75. that can be frustrating.
