AND - incidentally, contrary to what Disney would have people believe, Deer do not have families. Males will mate with whomever they can and females will attempt to be picky and select the more dominant males - different every year...

Here's the deal about deer and their happy families. Every year a buck will mate with several if not dozens of does. That doesn't sound like a happy family to me. In a way I am doing the lord work :-)

This whole deer thing shocked me at first too Will, but alas, I've been influenced by the BEST and most EXCELLENT influencers ever, the Johnson's of Bethel, and through a series of Johnson Been Up 2 pictures, explanation of the food chain, and supernatural jerky I've decided I'm not at all shocked anymore and might even become a hunter one day myself...i will start with phesant maybe.=-) I need to learn to shoot a gun first...Beni do you hunt?? Jenn? any of the girl Johnsons? Leah? ok enough for now...

The farther society gets from the actual food chain that feeds us, the weirder we become - actually placing moral value on things that have no morality, and often at the expense of things that are really true. To kill an animal that has a chance to live if it uses its wits (they always have the advantage, believe me) verses the animal that is raised in a pen to die (or provide leather for your shoes, belts, coats, etc.) seems no worse, and probably a lot more moral, if you insist. There were an estimated 400,000 deer in the US in 1900. There are over 4,000,000 in Texas alone right now. The key is proper game management, which includes hunting. (end of sermon:-)

@brevived: What do you mean by the fact that they always have the advantage? Is hunting that hard? I thought that learning to shoot a gun would be the hardest part but it appears i've deceived myself....I know Jesus hunted and I wish I could have an encounter with Him so He can tell me His hunting for food(besides fish) stories...=-)
