the chicken eventually got a lemon/garlic/herb rub. I have always wanted to try the beer method - next time!

I cook beer can chicken all the time. The secrets are to pour out half of the beer (and drink it), add spices like chili powder into the beer can, and then stuff the chicken onto the can. Stand the chicken upright on the grill using the drum sticks to balance it. Cook on indirect heat (no flame under the chicken) until done. To help steam it even more and add additional flavor try plugging the neck hole with a jalapeƱo pepper. Enjoy!
