arleta: Is that roofing used for siding?

at 07:26AM 08/18/08

cathy
cathy_1942: I like that stone! Is part of this an old house?

at 07:39AM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: See the white sided area over the front porch? That was added on where the porch roof was. The roofing shingles on the side of the older upstairs dormer is normal for our part of the country.

at 08:21AM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: I think all the stone parts are old.

Doug Crew
dougcrew: "We have a beautiful old stone house. I know let's make a nice vinyl facade right on the front. Genius I tell ya!"

at 09:14AM 08/18/08

Yana
yana: is this your house?

at 11:48AM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: Yana, this is not mine. Let me explain "remuddling". It is remodeling + muddle. Remodeling is fixing up. Muddle is a big mistake.

at 01:29PM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: Doug, let's see a pic of your house.

at 01:30PM 08/18/08

Doug Crew
dougcrew: don't own one. I am a bit of a purist though. If I owned an old house I would try to preserve the original design even in an addition. I used to do some remodeling in mostly average to below average neighborhoods. The guy I worked for still tried to keep it from looking to crazy.

at 02:53PM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: Oh, I misunderstood the previous post. Thought you were being ironic about your own house.

at 03:02PM 08/18/08

Doug Crew
dougcrew: No just sarcastic......in a Christian way of course. :o

at 03:49PM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: Doug, I get it.
I used to take the "Old House Journal" and they featured a "remuddling of the month" on the back page every issue.

shelly shively
shelly: that's a remuddling shame...otta be a law...

at 05:03PM 08/18/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: In some older parts of town there is some kind of preservation zoning.

at 05:13PM 08/18/08

Yana
yana: ok i got you, i thought remuddling has some roots from mud... we have rumuddlings here... lots of those...

at 12:03AM 08/19/08

Joseph William Perry
openjoe: Yana, you are a bright spot on beenup2.

at 04:22AM 08/19/08

Yana
yana: oh thank you...
