See the white sided area over the front porch? That was added on where the porch roof was. The roofing shingles on the side of the older upstairs dormer is normal for our part of the country.

don't own one. I am a bit of a purist though. If I owned an old house I would try to preserve the original design even in an addition. I used to do some remodeling in mostly average to below average neighborhoods. The guy I worked for still tried to keep it from looking to crazy.
