In an interview today with Katie Couric, Joe Biden, Democratic nominee for Vice President, said that when the markets crashed in 1929, "Franklin Roosevelt got on television and didn't just talk about the princes of greed. He said, Look here's what happened"

MINOR DETAILS: Franklin Roosevelt WASN'T President..... and television DIDN'T EXIST for another almost 20 years. ..........Joe Biden, Vice President of these United States....??????
jackied:
Even if he HAD stated the statistics correctly, they BOTH scare the shfnuf out of me.

jaypo:
Maybe he does need to parse through what he is going to say..."Instill confidence that he or she knows what they are talking about...FDR...TV...blah blah blah"
aslan:
Went to youtube..... not quite sure of the point. It seems to me that if you aren't sure of an answer, a "good" response is to say I'll get back to you. Certainly beats making things up. And does this negate confusing who was President when and the date TV was invented? Good Grief... he was 2 "decades" off......

I have to say...not a huge fan of Joe Biden and I like Sarah Palin but I was extremely disappointed with her interview with Katie Couric....Couric: I'm just going to ask you one more time - not to belabor the point. Specific examples in his 26 years of pushing for more regulation. Palin: I'll try to find ya some and I'll bring them to ya. Really? That's what she responded with? I was discouraged.

perhaps a delayed accurate answer beats a fairy tale answer (Obama) ....but this isnt Rock, paper, scissors....or is it????? :o

looking for Righteousness....alignment with God, His ways, His priorities....as with all other leaders we follow...its not either/or....its Righteousness or not.

sinyarda.... I understand your concern, but to my knowledge Palin has never claimed to be an "expert" on McCain's legislative record.... or McCain.... or Foreign policy... or name the issue. She's been busy with being a Gov, and a mayor, and a Mom. In a time of "gotcha" journalism, I think "I'll get back to you" is a good answer. Bill J. is my brother-in-law and I couldn't tell you his position on all doctrinal issues...... where he's visited as a guest speaker in the last 1 year.... make that last month.... how about last week..... :) And he's family. I tell my students that I DON'T have all the answers and if I don't, I'll tell you.... BUT, I'll get back to you. Palin will not have other answers either, but is that the issue...? It seems to me that a qualification for leadership is 'not" being the most knowledgeable person in the room...... BUT to be able to find the person who is.
gregory:
@ Ian...maybe Biden's nick name should be UP Chuck
at 12:26PM 09/25/08
ian:
Good points Aslan. As I was reading that it came to mind that the purpose of these debates should be to learn two things about each candidate. Their opinion on issues that are important to me. And their willingness to stick to those opinions.
If McCain says he's for an issue that I am for, and I vote for him, then he gets persuaded while in office to go against that issue... well there goes that.
That's what I'm looking for in my vote. Resolve.

gregory:
@aslan.....11:29AM post....love your answer...."it takes a village" to raise a president, not just one or two people....who is in that village is important....that's the mark of a good president....to choose the right people.

Ian....anyway to add a "FORUM" menu to BeenUp2? Some of this stuff is beyond chit/chat.

hah! That's not a bad idea Greg, we'll see what the future holds (:

@aslan, This is a pretty funny one and it's probably going to be pretty hard to live down. This kind of reminds me of Dan Quail and how he spelled potato with an e. Potatoe lol that is still funny.
@love4poor, do you not believe Obama is a righteous man?
at 03:52PM 09/25/08
aslan:
These VP candidates are really something..... take what Palin said in May in Oregon... "It is wonderful to be back in Oregon. Over the last 15 months we've traveled to every corner of the United States. I've now been in 57 states? I think one left to go." Wait.... I guess that "wasn't Palin..... It was Barack Obama....

I so don't want obama as my President!!! Yikes!
at 09:04PM 09/25/08
sinyarda:
I understand. I truly wasn't picking on her. Just an observation. Wonder if she indeed got back to her?:)
at 10:08PM 09/26/08
love4poor:
@surrenda: I can't judge the motives or the righteousness of men...but with the word of God as my roadmap to life...I can recognize righteous principle and biblical values....thats all... its simple...I am not a democrat or republican...I'm first and foremost a Christian...a follower of "the way" of Christ....using His ways to guide me in life and Godliness. Make sense?

surrenda:
@love4poor, My bad for my misunderstanding when you said that you were looking for righteousness. I thought you meant that you were looking for someone who is righteous and aligned with God. Please allow me to rephrase my question then. So after assessing Obama's righteous principles and biblical values. What are your thoughts?
