eleedy: Hannity cracks me up, you gotta love the guy...... he is currently trying to track down Obama's "long-lost" brother from Kenya, to start giving him money, because Obama hasn't done anything to help him....... I think it's hilarious

Surrenda
surrenda: Maybe he's looking in the wrong place. I hear great can run in the family. Maybe with a little persistence, hard work, honesty, and integrity like his brother. He's probably a great leader in that country just like Obama is here and maybe just maybe he's trying to change Kenya.

JimGrubbs
aslan: August 21, 2008 has an article about and a picture of Obama's half-brother, George Hussein Onyango Obama, who is described as living in a shack in the poor neighborhood of Kiberia outside Kenya's capital Nairobi. Hannity knows this, and has made his comment to question why Barrack is not offering help to his half-brother.

at 11:49PM 10/03/08

JimGrubbs
aslan: Oh Yes, the article is in Vanity Fair

at 11:50PM 10/03/08

Amanda
sinyarda: Good question.....my question: Why is Hannity friends to Ted?

at 11:54PM 10/03/08

Amanda
sinyarda: In all seriousness (my question). Not mocking.
I'll be checking out that article.

Surrenda
surrenda: @sinyarda, GRREEATT Question!!!
I am going to research as well on Obama's brother. Because I know that there will always be smear tactics.

at 01:23AM 10/04/08

Surrenda
surrenda: Just as I thought another smear tactic! I did read the Vanity Fair column just be fair. But here is a quote from the same brother that vanity fair wrote the article about. "He said that he was furious at subsequent reports that he had been abandoned by the Obama family and that he was filled with shame about living in a slum. “It seems there are people who want to destroy me and my family,” he said.

“They say I live on a dollar a month, but this is all lies by people who don’t want my brother to win.” He said that he was supported by his mother, Jael, who now lives in the US, and by a cousin in Huruma." Here is the address if you want to read the whole article.

JimGrubbs
aslan: @surrenda.... My comment was only that the where abouts of Obama were known. They are, right? The article describes where he lives and describes him as being poor. Since he is being supported by his mother and cousin and he is said to be 26 years old, it certainly seems like he's not supporting himself. Sounds poor to me, right? I guess I don't understand what is a "smear"? Vanity Fair is not exactly The Drudge Report. It's simply not the case that every time someone brings up something negative about Obama's life that it's a smear. Are you as upset with all the things that have been and are being said about Sarah Palin? It doesn't help a discussion to have everything that's brought up about someone described as a "smear"? Hannity doesn't like Obama.... you don't like Hannity. Neither of you can give that other person the benefit of the doubt. Not sure of the difference.......

at 07:37AM 10/04/08

Surrenda
surrenda: @aslan, If you could elaborate on some of the things that are being said about Sarah. I would be more than happy to give my opinion on if I feel she is being smeared. The reason why I say Obama is being smeared is because as eleedy wrote in the above "he is currently trying to track down Obama's "long-lost" brother from Kenya, to start giving him money, because Obama hasn't done anything to help him...." I would call that a smear. Using Vanity Fair to validate that point seems like a smear to me. Obama's brother in another interview says that he is happy where he is at and enjoys his low profile life. In fact when people ask him if he is related to Obama he tells them no he is not. Hannity has done and said somethings that gives me a clear implication of his personality and from that I voice my opinion about him.

at 09:19AM 10/04/08

JimGrubbs
aslan: @surrenda... There have been many Palin attacks, and I don't want to validate them by listing them here, but I'll mention one to illustrate how vicious they've been.

On Sept 5th Heather Mallick on the CBC sponsored website, a publicly funded Broadcast company in Canada, wrote of Palin, with her "toned-down version of the porn actress look" would give McCain "the white trash vote". The attacks are out there... just listen. It certainly isn't just Obama who has endured "smears".

at 10:11AM 10/04/08

Surrenda
surrenda: @aslan, if people are saying stuff like that, then I agree that those are "smears". I feel that this kind of stuff needs to stop on both sides.

at 10:21AM 10/04/08

JimGrubbs
aslan: We agree... "both sides" do need to stop. :)

at 10:26AM 10/04/08

Right Minded ;)
eleedy: I know that Hannity pushed the issue for partisan reasons and I think him more intelligent than to be completely serious about finding and supporting this man. However, Hannity made these comments on his Conservative radio show, a show designed, by nature, to entertain and educate from a Conservative point of view. He makes no apologies for this, the egregious act of partisan smears have come from the left-wing smear merchants from CBS, MSNBC and CNN. These entities hail themselves as "the standard" in journalism, and yet they go on day after day and make Sarah Palin out to be an ignorant, small town nobody who doesn't belong on the national stage. Meanwhile the same anchors choose not to report on Obama's "acquaintances", and never air his blunders and "misquotes".
There will always be those on both sides who smear their opponents, I don't like it, I don't agree with it, but I'm not naive enough to believe that it will ever end. The key is, if you have a horse in the race, identify that, the American people are not mindless drones, we see right through it. Have you seen the cable network ratings for the third quarter? Who do you think was on top? Who do you think was 23? I think it's obvious that we the people demand truth and balance, and we want to think for ourselves.

at 10:58AM 10/04/08

Amanda
sinyarda: I "third" that....PLEASE stop!

at 11:03AM 10/04/08

jered
daddyratty: How is it a smear to track down his family member? That's journalism. A smear would be to call Barack a bastard candidate. While technically true (by the literal definition), it is unkind and completely unnecessary to say, and also irrelevant to his positions.

at 11:10AM 10/04/08

Nicole Franklin
lilmama: Wow Eleedy, well said. The American people are not as dumb as the media think we are. And I can't believe anyone would have the guts to say that foxnews is biased, without at the same time acknowledging that the rest of media is biased in the other direction.

Another thing to consider: the good things that happen at Bethel every day, the healings, the transformations, the absolute life changes that take place, NONE of that makes it to the news. When people are raised from the dead in this country, it rarely makes the news (I remember reading about it once on FOXNEWS in the last year), and yet, it happens!

That's why as christians, we can read all we want, research all we want, but in the end, we have to rely on discernment, prophetic words, the language of the spirit, to decide who we are going to vote for in this election.

at 11:12AM 10/04/08

Amanda
sinyarda: I'll be first to admit that all media sources are slanted. I've looked and searched and sought but it is simply difficult to find any information without a presented bias. Fox news is bias and slanted.....but your all right, all other sources are as well. "Talking heads" as they've been refered to are entertaining to the political parties that listen and watch. It's grossly inflammatory and we shouldn't stand for it by giving it our support.....whatever your soapbox may be.
