Yea, me too thats why i dont buy anymore. I lke good fat. Its kind of funny that people buy fat free with all kind of sugar in it because a lot of sugar will turn to fat in your body
glowinglory:
umm...well, except for my artifical International Delight coffee creamer, but please not the fat free or sugar free stuff! ;)

starchristy:
they actually are not sugar free-oranges come packed with lots of sugar- only 'processed' sugar free. :)

Can things be candied with honey or agave? I cant eat sugar because I'm on a heavy metal detox right now. I don't know the first thing about cooking for REAL healthy. Beni, do you have any good recipes for cookies/sweets that are sugar and flour free? I'm having a hard time making anything that tastes good.

I findmost of my stuff online. google cooking or baking with agave nectar. I've made pumpkin pie with agave nectar. I made these with part agave nectar and Xytiol.

HAHA lookey what I found!!!! I would use raw milk to help you digest the other ingredients
Eggnog makes 3 cups (6 1/2 cup servings)
3 eggs 1/8 cup agave nectar pinch of salt 2 cups whole milk and cream* 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, brandy, or rum garnishes (optional): fresh ground nutmeg, chocolate curls, whipped cream
* you can vary the proportions to suit your taste and diet. More cream makes a richer nog. Half cream and half milk is very rich.
1. In a large saucepan, whisk together eggs, agave, and salt. 2. Whisk in 1 cup of the milk/cream. 3. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture leaves a thin film when tested on the back of a metal spoon. 4. Remove from heat. 5. Stir in the remaining cup of milk/cream and vanilla. 6. Cover and refrigerate several hours or overnight--until it is thoroughly chilled. 7. Pour into cups and garnish with desired garnishes.
If you wish you can add additional brandy or rum to the chilled eggnog.

Well I ain't a diabetic but they are definitely my dream! I'll take some down here in New Mexico while I am visiting my parents.....mmmm I wish i could eat one off the screen now.

Beni I had no clue how i could use agave until about a month ago.... .... lol I never realized it was so versatile! I think there was still something in me that said it would give me headaches like honey, but the more I use it the more I find it can be used in almost anything! Do you have a good peanut brittle recipe? I bet we could find one
rachiebee:
Aw, that's AWESOME! Like I said, I am doing a heavy-metals cleanse (along with my two year old - he had arsenic, lead and aluminum!), and I want him to have fun this year making cookies, but still be healthy. I am seeing how poisonous sugar really is with how much better I feel, and the fact that LITERALLY Tobi throws about 1/4 of the tantrums he used to. He has turned into an ANGEL, all from not eating wheat flour or sugar. Crazy.
Anyway, I am bookmarking this page for cookiemaking this Christmas.
Oh and Sandi, about the raw milk, my friend has been buying some from a local farmer for $12/gal, but she said it is SO worth it and she makes butter, yogurt, and everything out of it and she said it's SO amazing and so much better for you. I'm not sure I can justify the $12/gal yet, but I'm starting to lean that direction....!

See if you can find someone local who has a farm Rach, I get mine for $ 4.89 a gallon from Amish family and bought the share of the cow for $ 25. Organic is better than just regular milk for sure... and raw is the absolute best :)

rachiebee:
Yeah, we definitely buy at least organic, but I want to go raw. I will look into finding someone else. The only amish around here are way out in southern Missouri, as far as I know. :o)
