Ok, I went to a couple of sites myself and not one mentioned that it was legal to continue play, on a run that already has been set... Here is one of the sites... http://rummy.com/rummyrules.html
Yes, rummy.com the official page!!!

surrenda:
@Jess, I know that we weren't playing rummy last night, but we where making comparisons to it... I don't think you were at the table at that time... It was when your hubby made up that jive turkey rule about playing off a card even though the number has been played... LOL!!! Jive Turkey!!! :)

In the game we were playing at the Freeborn's there are multiple cards of the same value. In traditional rummy you only play with one deck so only one person would be able to "lay off" of someone else's meld because they are number or suite specific. So when it comes to rummy you're correct. I had that confused with a game I used to play with my dad and my brother that takes one deck per player, therefore allowing for multiple "lay off's" of the same meld. I can't find the web sites I found the other night but they both gave the rules for rummy games that are played with multiple decks. (I knew I should have written them down) Oh well. You're right about rummy... I still think it doesn't matter in Phase 10.

latricia:
dang cem, you were so convincing too! when you came out of the room you were tellin them like it is!! you really cant find the websites? tay might be on to something with his dumb 10%...
at 03:49PM 12/22/08
cpotillor:
No, I tried several times today... I can't find them. As far as his 10% goes... I highly doubt he is right 90% of the time. Whatever, I know what game I was thinking of now, I just had the wrong name. I looked up rummy played with more than one deck the other night... can't find the same results.
latricia:
LOL 2 Cem! LOL... Well, I highly doubt he is right that much of the time as well...
at 09:29PM 12/22/08
surrenda:
@Cem, I thought I heard Rich ask you if you were sure that night...He said did you look at "Rummy" or "Gin Rummy" and you said "Rummy"... Also, to the both of youuu'ss, yes I would say I am right about 90 % of the time... :P
cpotillor:
I am right a large percentage of the time but even I will not boast 90%!! I believe it to be humanly impossible...
at 10:05AM 12/23/08
cpotillor:
@tay... I did say that because I searched rummy played with multiple decks not gin rummy played with multiple decks... sorry, I should have been more specific. Oh btw, being loud and belligerent until everyone around you gives up and stops arguing doesn't count as you being right. ;-)
at 10:09AM 12/23/08
latricia:
hahaha cem, good one! belligerent! ha! Babe, hurry up and call me back I have some news ok!
at 10:44AM 12/23/08
surrenda:
@Cem, It may not be humanly possible, but God makes all things possible... Thus why I am right 90% of the time... Hehehe... Oh yeah when did I yell???
at 07:56PM 12/25/08
cpotillor:
You didn't yell the other night, I never used the term "yell"... I was merely speaking to the other times you think you're right. Just pointing out that you can't count in your "90% rightness" the times you frustrate us all to the point of giving up.
at 12:55AM 12/26/08
cpotillor:
In those moments you're actually wrong and everyone sees it but you... ;-) You keep us on our toes!! LOL!!
