cathy_1942: It was quite a chore! I spent the summers with my aunt & uncle on the farm. She would boil water in a huge cauldron outside on a fire, then transfer it to four tubs. One to wash and 3 to rinse. I had the job of turning the crank for the wringer to press the water out of the clothes. It took all day beginning early in the morning!
