David & Tay Causer
causerfam: :( I don't understand? Rainn had his shots ... Should I have not?

at 03:16AM 11/02/09

Bethany Skinner
bethany: Causerfam- you should really do some research on it. A book you should really read is the sanctity of human blood. I dont know how anyone would want to vaccinate after reading that book! But you should do research on both side and make your decision. If you only knew what was in the vaccines and how bad it is for your body. They believe that the aluminum in some of them is what is causing autism. I would for sure do some research to know why or why not you decide to do it or not. I know Rachel has a lot of info on it too :)

at 08:26AM 11/02/09

Nichole Miller
nichole: @ Causerfam. Yes do research, but no don't feel badly that your baby had his shots. I know a LOT of the people who have chosen to not do shots, and a LOT of their first babies had at least a few or them (depending on what age they stopped). A lot of the bad affects that can result from vaccines are not definites, but they are possibilities - just like in not getting vaccines - it is not definite that your kid will pick up that disease, but it becomes a possibility. You have to weigh out for you & your family which side you feel more at peace with. It's different for everyone.

That said, I would definitely look into shots that use aborted fetus' in them. I'm not sure people are aware about this aspect of some of our vaccines.

nichole: a few *of them... sorry :)

Arielle
arielle: Totally nuts-o. We are a vax free family.

R Nelson
buggers1025: @Causerfam: Both of what Nichole and Bethany said! lol. For us, the risk FAR outweighs the benefit with the mercury in them, plus the aborted fetus tissue. I can't stand to THINK about putting either one of those into my little babies. It really is something you have to read more about for yourself and decide what you feel is right for you. And I agree with Nichole, DON'T feel bad that he's already had some shots. You are doing what you feel is right for him and that's what us mommies do! :) That book, The Sanctity of Human Blood, is an AMAZING eye opener and I highly recommend it if you are wanting more info. It simply states that vaccination is not immunization and explains how that conclusion was reached. It's VERY interesting. On the flip side, some people decide to do limited/delayed vax's. I've heard Dr. Sears has a delayed vax schedule but don't know much more. The ONLY reason we'd ever get any vax's is if we were going out of the country and even then, I would be SUPER selective as to what I chose for them to get. It's also scary that when we were all little (and getting vax'd because no one knew better...) there were 14-ish total vax's we got by the time we were 12. Now? There's 34... That's WAY more than there used to be! Scary.

That being said, there are risks and benefits to each. My 10 year old stepson had his vax's up until age 2 and then that was it. He's completely normal and has no side effects (other than some high metals that we need to deal with from the mercury--my mom is a Dr. of Naturopathy so that's how we know that... hence my "right-winged" belief on vax's). My other two haven't had any (and won't). We have no problems with the elem school my 10 year old goes to as far as enrollment goes (well, the nurse gets mad at me EVERY year, but she's learned to get over it... lol). The MAIN thing that bothers me about the system is that the nurse always tells me "You need to know that if there's an outbreak, your child will be excluded from all school activites." umm... IF there's an outbreak, the immunization didn't work! I always tell her that (in a nice way)... She gets a funny look on her face. THEN she proceeds to tell me that if MY child has an outbreak, he will not be permitted to attend any school activities until he's better. Once again... if all the other kids are vax'd, WHY can't my child be around them? They're immune, right? She doesn't know what to say about that either... Of course I'm not going to send my sick kid to school, but it's just interesting that they've (the medical "big-wigs" that are making tons of money off vax's...) tell them to say things like that "just in case". For me, if a vaccination isn't 100% going to keep them from getting a crazy disease that's only prevalent in a remote area of Africa, then I'd rather take the risk and not give them the vax. It's just no worth it to me. I believe that, when we're born, we have 100% perfectly functioning immune systems for a reason--to fight off disease. If God made us the way He did for a reason, then He's not going to make a disease that could kill us... There ARE other factors that contribute to our bodies not being able to fight these off (such as diet and possibly genetics) but overall, I believe our bodies were created to fight those off. I'm not about to take my 2 year old over to someone's house that I KNOW has Rubella just because "he needs to fight it off and become immune naturally" but I'm not going to worry if we pass someone in the store that has it. Make sense? Sorry to everyone that this is so long... lol. I had a lot to say!

David & Tay Causer
causerfam: Hmmm... Well we had to get them for brazil : /
but we trust God to take care of little man! Also the vax's he got do not contain mercury. Thanks for all your views!

R Nelson
buggers1025: Sounds like you already knew most of this then!!! :) Good job momma! There's a few of us that are pretty passionate about this issue on here... lol. Why are you going to Brazil? I'd love to go there someday. :)

at 06:44PM 11/02/09

David & Tay Causer
causerfam: I had no idea people were so passionate and I guess I didn't reaally realize doctors would give something so bad to a child :( that's what stinks !!
The only reason I know about the shots rainn got not having mercury is cause his pediatrician told me all of theirs were thermacil (sp?) /mercury free...when she went over them with me.
We are going to brazil for ministry :) we are taking a team of 14 !! Very exciting!!

Carli
carliray: My girls are vax-free as well. The only time I've ever had someone give me trouble about it was last year when one of my girls was bit by a dog. The nurses and dr's at the ER were being so mean to me, saying that I had caused my daughter so much more discomfort by not having her already vaccinated. I finally asked what the difference would be between her being already vaccinated and her getting the shots right then when she needed them. They said "well, we're going to have to give them to her now...while she's in pain and hurting" (from the bite)
Personally I would much rather her receive them when they're needed (and if they're ever needed) than her receiving them when she's a baby.
Oh, and they gave her the shots when she was under anesthesia (sp?) so she didn't feel them anyway :)

at 08:53AM 11/03/09

Carli
carliray: Oh, and @causerfam, I would definitely get my girls immunized if I was traveling out of the country...thats a totally different thing in my opinion...
Also, I'm SO excited that you're going to Brazil! Its going to be AMAZING! :)

Arielle
arielle: The only vax I am going to be getting my kids soon is Tetanus. I will be doing plenty of research on it before hand :)

The most pushing I have ever had from a dr was dr lagoc in redding (and you all know I adore her) She pretty much just wanted to know why I was opposed and that was about it! Its not as scary to stand up to your dr these days, really!!
