I LIVED on the orange flavored tums.
When I was pregnant with Bella, my doctor actually prescribed something for me. I am not one for taking unnecessary meds. But I didn't have any heartburn! Oh my goodness, it was the best! ;)

emroki: @ inga - ya, everything's squished, so you have a shorter distance from your stomach to your throat = heartburn. @carli - I loved the Tums smoothies berry flavor. Yummy :)

buggers1025: If you're wanting to try a natural route... My mom (Ronda Nelson) told me to drink about 1t apple cider vinegar in about 6-8 oz of water 30 minutes before every meal for 1-2 weeks. It balances out the acidity in you stomach and will STOP the heartburn after those few weeks. I didn't have major heartburn with either of my pregnancies, but did do it on and off for a few days at a time with the minimal heartburn I had and it worked for me! :) just an fyi... I cheated and took Tums sometimes too though just so I didn't have to drink anything...

megmc: I have heartburn from the time I start to show until I deliver. Tums doesn't work for me though. I use Gaviscon. My doc told me about it when I was preggo with Johnathan. It foams up as you chew it and then coats your entire esophegus when you swallow. It is amazing.
BUT, I'm with inga. No more heartburn/indigestion (for either of us) in Jesus' name!!! :o)

leahmariv: Yup oh I hate tums I still can't take them cause it reminds me of past pregnanacies and the tums alone makes me want to vomit haha... But I take once a day Zantac ( which is safe) and it is amazing!! I had it so bad with Isabella that if I didn't take it I could not even tip my head to the side with out acid coming up! Ewwww so anyway you may want to try that :)

arielle: Carli....Nux Vomica works wonders!!!! Easy to keep in your purse or pocket. Its homeopathic so nothing from it crosses over the placenta. I turned marcelle on to them too ;) Get it at orchard...like $6...

I always thought my heartburn was due to me being 5 ft and carrying 9lb babies...but if you get it too Meg, then I guess I was wrong. @Ari, I've been meaning to ask Marcelle what she uses...I'll have to check that stuff out.
My worst heartburn story is one day when I was burning mandarine tangerine oil in my oil burner, the acidic citrus SMELL was giving me heartburn. Ugh.
Oh, and you know the old wives tale that heartburn means your baby is going to have lots of hair? SO not true...my babies are born bald and stay bald until they're 1 :)

emroki: It's funny because I got into bed after my tums post thinking I must not have had much heartburn because I remember taking Tums for the calcium. But then I remembered that I took apple cider vinegar for heartburn. I mixed a tablespoon of ACV with the same amount of water in a little shot glass and took it in one swallow after dinner or before bed. You've got a lot of options, lady! Have fun(?) experimenting :)

nichole: Zantac, Zantac, Zantac, Zantac, Zantac!!!!! It is the only way I could eat in my last trimester, not to mention the only way I can sleep some nights even now :) (I have it even non prego).

arielle: Its a natural remedy given in tiny doses to help alleviate many different types of ailments. Its derived from a tree in africa....umm I'm not sure I really know whats in it but it has done big things for me!! ;)
