Known as "the Golden Heart of Alaska," Fairbanks is one of few cities in Alaska on the road system. There are many villages that are only accessible by watercraft or aircraft. Fairbanks is located in central Alaska. Known as "the Interior" the climate is arid, and has temperatures ranging from 55 degrees below zero in the winter to 95 degrees above in the summer.
