Mike was invited to give a presentation to part of Google explaining how his site uses some of their technologies. He picked me up at my house at some ungodly hour. We knew we were going to be early but we did not want to take any chances. Once we arrived in Mountain View we drove around looking for some coffee and Wi-Fi. We ended up at Starbucks and mentally prepared to enter Geek Paradise.
We found Google HQ pretty easily and were let into the building after confirming our appointment and getting our name badges. Never have I signed into a building using FireFox, nor had I ever considered that a visit would be recorded, indexed, and mirrored onto three different disks across the multiple Google cluster spread across the world .. but I am sure that is what happened.
Mike gave his presentation and everything went pretty smooth. We went over to the Google cafeteria which totally lived up to the hype. I had some gourmet pizza that included duck and a fresh glass of juice. The group we hung out with was very inquisitive and never stopped asking us questions about everything ranging from business models to the technologies we used.
