Leaving the U.S. for Costa Rica !!
Had to be at Joe's by 5am or NO Breakfast. I actually overslept. Woke up at 3:50! So much for the 3:00am alarm. Made it to Austin's by 4:35, and to Joe's by 4:59! One minute to spare. So we did get breakfast.

LAX to Houston was a 3 hour flight. No problem!!
Now in Houston getting lunch before our flight to Costa Rica. We should arrive there around 8pm tonight I beleive.

We are 2 hours ahead, so it is now 3:15 Central time, and 1:15 California time.

Well... Our flight is delayed due to mechanical problems or something with the plane. So, that's ok. Fix the plane! I don't mind waiting for a "Working Airplane" :).

My guess is we will leave in the next 30 minutes or so.

Finally we were assigned another airplane and had to change gates. So we ended up leaving around 8pm.
About 45 minutes before we were supposed to land in San Jose, the captain announced that due to weather, we would have to divert to Liberia (in Costa Rica) which would require another 30 minutes of flight time. This was due to low fuel, that did not permit us to circle while we waited for the weather to clear. He said we would give it another 15 minutes to see. So.. after 15 minutes, he announced that we would have to divert. Not only did this mean 30 minutes of additional flight time, but a 5 (yes I said FIVE hour additional drive for us). We were so disappointed. It was now after 11pm (10pm PDT). Then after another 5 minutes, he said that the weather had cleared and we would actually turn and land in San Jose where we were supposed to!! Praise God. I am glad he still changes the weather for his people. According to Don, there were many planes that were circling, and we were the only one he knows of that landed !!

We landed about 11:30 (10:30 PDT). Customs went well except for the CD duplicator that Joe brought in for Don the missionary. It was about the size of a tower PC computer, and took up the entire suitcase. They saw it on the x-ray and thought we should pay to bring it in. After an explanation by Joe, and a young girl standing by who was interpreting for him (maybe an angel ) we were allowed to go on our way without paying any import taxes.
Don drove Joe and Austin to his house, while Bob, Jenna, and myself took a cab with all of the luggage. It was about a 20 minute drive to Don’s home.
Don lives on a nice property with a main house, and a guest house in the back. Jenna stayed with Rachael, Don’s daughter (12), and us guys stayed in the guest house. Well the guest house had a queen been and a set of bunk beds. Bob slept in the Queen bed, Joe took the floor (on a huge air mattress), Austin and I took the bunks. Austin on top, with Indy-500 / Little mermaid theme. I took the bottom bunk with the dinosaurs . There is a washer and dryer for us, a small refrigerator stocked with drinks and a large bathroom with shower. So our accommodations were fantastic!! We even had a coffee maker and microwave.
It was about 1:30am when everyone was in bed. Time to sleep.
