Day 1 - September 15, 2008
On my way!
I booked my trip 2 weeks before I left, with connecting flights in Houston before I knew about Hurricane Ike. The hurricane made its way through Houston on Friday and I had NO idea if the airport was even going to be open as they had closed it Friday-Sunday. I found out a few hours before I left on the red eye Sunday night/Monday morning that my connecting flight was canceled but that they had opened and some flights were getting through. I called and rescheduled and had a 6 hr layover in Houston, but was able to hop on the next flight several hours earlier than expected. Unfortunately after boarding we sat on the runway for 2 hrs while they ordered, found, and replaced a part on the plane. Then we were off! It was beautiful flying into LaGuardia Airport, and I got my bags no problem and then caught my first cab ride, which happened to also be the scariest ride of my life, and they say California drivers are scary! Austin came and met me at his place (6th floor walk-up in the Lower East Side) after I'd already carried my bags up and nearly died of exhaustion. He made up for it by taking me around via subway to Times Square, Grand Central Station, Astor Place, and Central Park.
my standby ticket....please oh please let me on!woo hoo! Sooooo thankfulOur desent upon LaGuardiathanks!my first cab ride everdeath cab 4 cutie?
