We set out on our journey from El Dorado Hills to San Francisco. Destination: The June Ruby Meetup at CNet titled "Embarrassment of Riches" and we did not want to miss out on getting rich.
The Meetup was really fun and there were a lot of great speakers. The CNet conference room was a nice venue as there were a lot of developers. At the end there was a pretty long line of companies that went up to the front to announce that they were hiring Ruby developers. It felt like the dot-com days all over again.
Mike and I had some time to kill so I suggested that we go over to Cleveland and 7th to checkout the old Kurant building where StoreSense was originally developed. It was pretty scary at night and we were definitely watching our backs. SOMA != EDH.
So off to dinner we went. I will not go into great detail about what happened next but let us just say that we ended up in the Tenderloin district without even realizing it. Once we realized what was going on we jammed out of the area and got back to the car. We drove to The Stinking Rose which had tons of garlic-y food.
