Also, I don't get emails like the above picture. Do you know why? Because if, by chance, someone sends me something like this, I reply to every other person on the forward list and tell them about how they are propelling ignorance and fear and stupidity by sending this type of tripe on to someone else. And then I tell them that I will do the same thing every time, and request that they don't send me anything like this ever again. I did it recently when someone sent me some list of a bunch of quasi-racist things that Andy Rooney supposedly said (I'd be willing to bet that some of you may have received said email). I included the snopes page that discredited it and told them that they shouldn't feel okay about having angry, racist thoughts just because the lovable, curmudgeonly Andy Rooney feels the same way, because he doesn't.
Anyway, the horse's ass thing was my idea. I thought it would be a funny way to say, "Hey Aaron, I think that 'slow natives' punch line might have been in poor taste." And, by the way, if/when I slip up and show some good old-fashioned boneheadedness, I hope that Lil will always let me know.

Here's the thing, Aaron: I don't think these two men look anything alike, and I really don't know why someone would send something like this out in an email--other than to try to create fear of the black man. And then, in all honesty, I can't figure out why you would repost this pic, dude. I feel like it's kind of like retelling a tasteless joke, and then claiming no responsibility for it because someone else told it to you (I have done this a few times). Once, I told a joke as an adult that I had learned as a kid. The joke was "What do you call the black stuff in between an elephant's toes? Slow natives." I forgot, though, that one of the people listening to the joke had a daughter who, like BO, had a black father. I felt like such a dip shit. When we slip up and do or say something stupid, we should admit it and say we're sorry. These pics juxtaposed like this with the heading "notice any similarities" is not a legit criticism of Barack Obama that people have unfairly critiqued as "Playing the race card." It is straight up racially motivated. Even though you didn't make it up, it is offensive to a lot of people. The thing is, Malcolm X was a really amazing person, but for a lot of white people, he symbolizes a kind of militant black man who is trying to take over.
